PORTUGAL PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE

Founded in September of 2008, the constitution of Portugal Paralympic Committee (PCC) was a need felt for long time in the national sport context, while element that is intended to add quality to the sport system. It corresponds to a national legal imperative, but also and no less relevant, to an international demand. 

For the first time in the history of Sport, sport organization for disabled will be represented in the public organ of the sport cupola, namely, in the National Council of Sport;

It is a project that interferes in the great world concerns, and therefore its Mission should be beyond the exclusive sport dimension, considering as ultimate goal, the inclusion for people with disability.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

Portugal Paralympic Committee is a nonprofit sport institution, with the mission of spreading, developing and defending Paralympic Movement and sports in general, in accordance with the norms of International Paralympic Committee and Internacional Committee of Sport for the Deaf.

It still has as mission to promote liking for sport practice, as a way to build each one’s character, of promoting health environment, of cohesion and social inclusion, as well as the responsibility of managing Paralympic Preparation’s Program.

OBJECTIVES

• To increase the number of athletes;
• To increase the number of participant athletes with high support need;
• The athletes’ inclusion in the regular structures of the sport;
• To diversify sports;
• To increase female participation;
• To create access conditions to sport.
